Ivan Saliba

By far and large one of Malta's most advanced and experienced 3D artists, with over 14 years' experience in the field Ivan's devotion to 3D animation is as old as the technology itself. With the exception of a 2 year period in which Ivan set up his own firm - Ivan has been an integral member of the Blaze Animation team through which he was able to experience and assimilate cinematographic rules into animation. By and large, most of the Blaze animation realities - whether commercials or the shorts have the direct hand or influence of Ivan and his devotion to the art.

Ivan was also instrumental as 3D artist within the creation of the Stereoscopic Short - Tele-Monkey - a short first of its kind in Malta. Within the recent years - Ivan has also been responsible for the setting up of a research program as a result of which he was responsible for the training and development of a team of talented 3D artists.

I have always been fascinated with the techniques used in producing the simplest of cartoons and animated movies which I used to watch as a kid. During my studies at the MCAST Institute of Art & Design (2006-2012), I commenced by acquainting myself to the simplest artistic basics such as painting, sculpting, modeling etc... which introduced me to the world of 2D and 3D software.

With this in view after 6 years of ongoing practice and training, I walked out with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 3D Design & Interiors. As stated earlier, the love to animation production has grown in me with the result of having the opportunity of joining one of Malta's leading production companies (2012-present), of which I am more than proud to be part of. A fascinating and dedicated team, which further encourages me to create and produce all the best I can.

It's in my blood - well in part at least. When I first started, the formal education at MCAST Art & Design back in 2007, I acquired the direction and structure I needed to actually do what I loved to do, and not just thinking of it as a hobby. I loved the challenge and the experience taught me a lot - especially about myself. But since every tic needs its fine-tuned toc - I continued my studies in the field of 3D Animation and four and a half years later, I walked off with a B.A. (Hons) degree in Graphic Design and Interactive Media.

In 2011 I joined Blaze Animation Studio where for these past six years I had the pleasure to work on some very challenging projects varying from TV Commercials, Animated shorts, fully 3D Documentaries and presentations amongst others.
